All the Hostages
Bel Canto breaks a few of the standard Protagonist/Antagonist rules. In a good way. Often a book will have one main protagonist, or maybe two or three. In Bel Canto, the protagonist is really kind of all the people taken hostage by the terrorists. An added twist? By the end, it includes the community they all become, terrorists included, in that strange setting. Pretty clever, huh? That's what they teach you at literary fiction school.
