Exactly how steamy is this story?

There's some sex in Bel Canto, including Roxane's affair with Mr. Hosokawa and the trysts between Gen and Carmen. And we hear tons of people's inner thoughts; some, though really not that many, do have to do with sex. But we think Patchett would have no trouble maintaining a PG-13. She often stops her narration just before things get really steamy, like cutting the camera tastefully away. She's ultimately most interested in the deep human emotions involved in love and passion. Oh, and there's the scary hostage situation, but she turns that into a friendly community group pretty quickly, too.
