Jack Duluoz

As Kerouac's alter-ego, Duluoz is the main character and narrator of Big Sur. No difficulty in determining this role – the entire novel focuses on Jack's thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Because this novel is largely autobiographical, Duluoz isn't designed to function as a standard "hero"; he's a reflection of the author himself.
