John Howard Griffin

Well, the fact that he's basically the only person who qualifies as the main character in Black Like Me is a dead giveaway. Griffin is our narrator, everything is written from his point of view, and we are following his journey into the black South. It's an interesting ride, and our main man mostly walks it alone.
