Character Role Analysis
The Boy
The Boy is Arrietty's guide to the outside world. She learns that there are more humans than borrowers in the world (she thought exactly the opposite), and that there's a ton of stuff out there that she never knew existed, like "railway stations and football matches and racecourses and royal processions and Albert Hall concerts" (10.37). The boy opens Arrietty's eyes to a different perspective on the world and her place in it.
