Sasha Zaichik

Sasha's the little guy who guides us through his world and experiences. Because this story is told from the first person, and we're privy to his thoughts, it's very easy to identify and sympathize with Sasha. When he gets all naive and continues to believe that Stalin is a great guy, we want to let him down gently. When he's freezing old at Lubyanka prison, we want to wrap that warm scarf around his neck ourselves.
