Character Role Analysis
Anthony Blanche
Surprised? Anthony is absent for most of the novel and manages to be drunk or in the process of getting there every time we see him, but he’s a big part of Charles’s aesthetic education, as we talk all about in "Character Analysis." Anthony is the one to warn Charles – rightly so – of the dangers of British charm – and he’s also our guide to understanding the Flyte family.
Cordelia Flyte
Cordelia’s little nuggets of pre-pubescent wisdom help Charles to understand the Flytes and help the reader to understand the novel. Her insights on Lady Marchmain, Sebastian’s alcoholism, and Bridey’s religious predicament are among the most important in the novel.
