Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?
Third Person (Omniscient)
Ceremony is told from the point of view of an all-knowing third party. The narrator knows exactly what's going on in Tayo's brain, and he (we'll call him he) gives it to us in all its gory detail.
For the most part, the narrator sticks to Tayo's perspective, but Silko likes to mix things up. Every once in a while we'll get a brief glimpse into the mind of another character—a paragraph from Emo's sick and twisted brain, for example, or a few pages that let us know how hard Helen Jean's life has been. Way to keep us on our toes, Les.
