Nikolai Nikolaevich Timeline and Summary

Nikolai shows up at the funeral of Yuri Zhivago's mother. With Yuri's dad out of the picture, it's Nikolai's responsibility to look after the boy.
As Yuri grows up, Nikolai teaches him how to think independently. Nikolai himself is an author who is somewhat famous for his books on philosophy, history, and politics.
When Yuri is old enough, Nikolai sends him to live with the Gromeko family. Nikolai moves out of Russia for years and years.
When Yuri Zhivago has grown up into a young man, he learns that his uncle has moved back to Moscow. But Nikolai has not returned with the same ideas he left with. As a guy who used to be all about the power of the individual, Nikolai is now a strong supporter of Communism and equality between the social classes.
