Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood)’s Timeline and Summary
- He hangs out in the Shire, greets Gandalf, and has a grand time at the party until Bilbo mysteriously disappears.
- Bag End is left to him and Gandalf tells him to keep the Ring safe and tucked away, which he does until Gandalf returns and sacks the house looking for it.
- After learning what the Ring is, Frodo sets out for Bree with Sam where he's supposed to meet up with Gandalf. On the way he's joined by Merry and Pippin and the fearsome foursome dodges the Nazgûl on their way to the town.
- In the Prancing Pony he runs into Strider, who helps him evade the Nazgûl and leads him toward Rivendell.
- During the journey, he is attacked by Nazgûl on Weathertop and is stabbed by a Morgul blade.
- He is rushed to Rivendell by Arwen and is healed by Elrond, though he will always bear the scar and feel some pain.
- During the council, Frodo is called by the Ring and he offers to take it to Mordor himself, to the surprise of the other members.
- They set off on their journey and, when they are blocked from the South pass and the Pass of Carahdras, Frodo chooses to go through the mines of Moria.
- Frodo is nearly eaten by the Watcher in the Water in the lake outside of Moria's entrance, but is rescued by the fellowship.
- He travels through Moria and, when they are assaulted by orcs, he is speared by the cave troll and spared only because of the mithril armor given to him by Bilbo.
- The fellowship flees the mines and, despite Gandalf's death, they continue on until they reach Lothlórien.
- At night he follows Galadriel to her silver basin and sees the future destruction of the Shire—which is what will occur should Frodo fail to destroy the Ring. He offers her the Ring, which she denies.
- He receives a phial containing Eärendil's light and makes his way down the river with the fellowship.
- As they camp, Frodo is assaulted by Boromir (who wants the Ring). Frodo puts it on to escape.
- He offers the Ring to Aragorn but is again turned down. Aragorn and the fellowship protect him as he flees the oncoming orcs.
- He grabs a boat and begins to leave the fellowship and make his own way to Mordor, but Sam follows him.
- Together, they overlook the crags of Emyn Muil and the long journey that awaits them.
