Mr. Rowley is the first medical professional (though he's not actually a doctor) that treats Matilda's mother. He disputes Dr. Benjamin Rush's assertion that yellow fever is spreading (9.27-9.28). He is referred to as an "imposter" by Dr. Kerr (10.12).
