Character Analysis
Mrs. Norris is Filch the caretaker's creepy cat. The students regard her with dread and disdain. Harry wonders, for example, if she can see through his invisibility cloak when he's trying to travel through the castle secretly. Her name reminds us of the overbearing aunt Mrs. Norris in Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.
