Hebrews Theme of Justice and Judgment

Who knew the author of a New Testament book would agree with Tupac about something? But he goes: only God can judge.

And throughout the Epistle to the Hebrews, God comes off as pretty judgmental. Of course, the author is clear that God's not trying to be a meanie—he's actually good and just and loving. (Fancy that!)

Judgment and love? Sounds pretty biblical to us.

Questions About Justice and Judgment

  1. People aren't supposed to judge each other, right? What gives God a license to judge everyone and everything?
  2. How does the image of a judgmental God fit in with other New Testament books? How about other Hebrew Bible books?
  3. Is God a big meanie for judging everyone? Or is he just trying to help the world?
