  • Quasimodo is born around 1462, making him about twenty years old when the novel takes place.
  • When he is three or four, Quasimodo is left in place of Paquette la Chantefleurie's baby daughter. He is sent as a foundling to Notre-Dame where Claude Frollo adopts him.
  • Quasimodo becomes the bell-ringer of Notre-Dame.
  • At the Festival of Fools in 1482, Quasimodo is crowned the Pope of Fools.
  • That night, at Frollo's bidding, Quasimodo attempts to kidnap Esmeralda and is arrested for it.
