King Westley (Jameson Thomas)’s Timeline and Summary
- King Westley, a pilot and showoff, marries Ellie before the film begins, but the marriage can't be consummated because Andrews kidnaps Ellie, whisking her away to a boat where he holds her hostage.
- We next see King when he meets with Andrews, who's desperate to see his daughter again. Andrews finally agrees to let Ellie go through with the marriage that's already been technically completed.
- King, always attention-hungry, agrees to the press conference that Andrews has organized to announce his change of heart.
- When Ellie's back in New York and again living with her father, King proposes a "great stunt" for the wedding day soon to take place: He'll fly in on an autogyro. We see him do this, and we see him say "I do," but no sooner does the marriage seem to be on than it's off again: Rather than return the "I do," Ellie runs away.
- King accepts $100,000 from Andrews as compensation for his loss of Ellie and as reward for his not contesting the annulment that Andrews has worked so hard to secure all along.
