Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge
Like painter, like poet. Before writing poems, Mark Strand received his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from Yale. Luckily for us, he started writing poems, but here's a cool interview with an image of one of his paintings.
We guess being a painter and poet wasn't enough; Strand has also taken on the world of prose—children's books to be exact. He wrote a great one called Rembrandt Takes a Walk.
The dude's kind of a big deal. He's won just about every award you can—the Pulitzer, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, a Rockefeller Foundation award, a MacArthur genius grant—and he was even named Poet Laureate. Doesn't get much better than that. (Source.)
