Martin Silenus is one of the main squeezes in in Dan Simmons's Hyperion. And—you guessed it—Martin is also a satyr.
In 1957, a team of archeologists from the University of Pennsylvania discovered what they believed to be Midas's burial chamber in central Turkey. And check this out: facial reconstructionists have made models of Midas's face, based on the skull they found.
It's actually possible to turn lead into gold, but it doesn't last. Bummer. (Source)
