Regan, Luna

Regan is both our narrator and the book's protagonist. Even though a lot of the story deals with Luna's issues, Regan is still the one who tells it and sees everything occurring. She is in the depths of Luna's despair with her, and tries to protect her sibling while living some semblance of a normal teenage life. She keeps all of Luna's secrets and helps her transition throughout the book—and grows up quite a bit herself along the way.

Of course, we can't help but root for Luna the whole time either, so she's definitely a protagonist too. As we see her struggle with her identity and suffer for being her true self, we hope she finds the happiness that eludes her while she lives at home and goes to high school.
