The metamorphosis of the story's title mainly belongs to poor ol' Gregor, whose transformation into a bug initiates all the events in the story. The story also spends most of the time in Gregor's bug-head, filtering events through Gregor's perspective until his death, when it shifts into the other family members for the last few paragraphs.
