Lines 28-30
Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:
- Despite all the things in their way, these mushroom ladies move on.
- Notice that they don't trample those in their way all crazy-like. Instead the speaker says they're "Nudgers and shovers." The speaker seems to take a little dig at her kind when she says that they do all this "In spite of ourselves."
- It's like she's saying that part of the problem is with women, themselves, for not standing up for themselves more aggressively. In other words, they're too mushroom-like.
- But don't fret—there is some good news, though. She ends by saying that her kind continue to grow in number.
