• Link fights with James about another dude.
• School is starting again, and Link has re-enrolled in his Saturday math course despite not being thrilled about it.
• When Ellen asks him and James whether they're a couple, he adamantly denies it and storms out.
• Link gives James and Ellen the silent treatment and starts dating Polly Keller.
• He allows Ellen to start running with him and gives her pointers on how to improve.
• James and Link are officially "done" with… whatever it was they were to each other.
• Link writes his college essay about math. It's supposed to be how fulfilling math is, but Ellen thinks it sounds more like he's drowning in it.
• Link turns in all of his final exams blank as some kind of statement about futility.
• He also admits that he quit "Math for Freaks" to take piano lessons.
• Link faces his father's disappointment when he has to pick him up from the airport.
• Link lies for Ellen so she can sleep over at James's.
• His punishment for the exams fiasco is that he has to see a psychiatrist, and he has to retake his exams.

• As his hostility grows, college acceptances come back, and Link somehow diffuses all the tension by revealing that he got into Yale. A celebratory dinner is held at his dad's favorite restaurant.
