Clara is lovely, educated, and practical. She possesses all the qualities that Obi needs in his life, and he recognizes that. But Clara knows better than Obi that her identity as an osu makes their marriage impossible. Against her better judgment, she accepts his marriage proposal, but continuously tries to break the relationship off, saying it's for his own good.
