• Saturday, June 17, 1871: Georgie arrives home as Grandfather Bolte's funeral is ending. The federal marshal and his posse capture the Garrow Gang.
• Late June-Early July: Georgie is hounded by newspapermen for her story.
• July: Billy tries to talk to Georgie. She's not having it. That's the last they see of each other.
• July 24, 1871: The Burkhardts receive a letter from Agatha.
• September 1871: The drought is terrible. Mrs. Garrow arrives and tells them about Darlene's death and asks to see her grave.
• October 1871: Fires start along the shore of Lake Michigan, and Placid becomes a place for refugees and victims. Georgie decides she doesn't want to take life anymore.
