King Oinopion is the dude in charge of a little island called Khios. He makes the very bad decision of hiring Orion to clear his island of wild animals. After Orion violates Oinopion's daughter Merope, the King blinds the giant as punishment. The myth doesn't give us much else about the king or his daughter, but we do find it interesting that in a lot of ways, these two are more sympathetic than the hero of the story. (Or is that just us?)
