• Jun Do finds the American rower's broadcasts when he is scanning the radio waves out on the Junma.
• Jun Do becomes obsessed with the night rower because of what he sees as their similar experiences with darkness.
• The rower broadcasts that she and her partner are in trouble—they've lost navigational capabilities.
• Jun Do broadcasts to the lost Second Mate that he has to help the rowers.
• When he visits the U.S., Jun Do makes it a point to ask after the rowers. He learns that the daytime rower is dead.
• Jun Do says the night rower got off course because she closed her eyes.
• When Impostor Ga gets his first commission from Kim Jong Il, the Dear Leader takes him to the holding cell where the night rower has been kept. She is transcribing the works of the Dear Leader and has become quite grubby.
• The rower tells Ga that she did not kill Linda, her partner. Linda was killed when the North Koreans tried to board their vessel.
• Kim Jong Il has plans to use the rower as bait to draw the Americans to North Korea. Ga takes a picture of her with his camera.
• The Dear Leader has also started to fall for the rower. When Ga returns to her cell, the Dear Leader confides that he has feelings.
• The American rower writes a note that Ga dictates to her in English (about extra "guests" accompanying her home) and holds it up so that he can take a picture.
• The loudspeaker broadcasts a scene between Sun Moon and the rower. The Dear Leader sends Sun Moon to help clean up the rower. Sun Moon tells her the story of her grandma.
• The rower tries to tell Sun Moon something, but they can't understand each other.
• On the day of the exchange, the rower gets freaked out by the incident with Brando and makes a run for the plane. The American visit is cut short.
