Guide Mentor
Character Role Analysis
Mr. Hart
Here's the situation: It's not super clear who the mentor figure is in this book. There's no fairy godmother who swoops in to show Manny the ropes, and not too many folks take a keen interest in mentoring our main man. It's part of the problem for him as he stumbles along looking for his footing in life.
That said, though, Manny does have one teacher who tries his best to help his hard-working former student out, and this is Mr. Hart. When Manny tells Mr. H that he's trying to transfer to the fancy school across town, his old teacher tries to help him out with some money for school supplies, which is pretty nice. Sure, it's not like Mr. H is chock-full of advice for Manny. But at least he tries to lend a guiding hand.
