The world keeps revolving, but some things stay the same. Take, for instance, the need to gather fuel to stay warm during a cold, rainy winter. We don't know when in time we have travelled back to, here at the end of the poem, but it doesn't matter. This final image tells us that humanity will always face the same struggles.
