• TJ goes to the Vietnam War, and Jamie is happy that her brother is lucky enough to fight in a war. True story.
• Jamie starts playing gin rummy with Hollister at the rec center. Both of them are good, so it's a close call as to who will come out on top.
• When Jamie gets TJ's first package from Vietnam, she's thrilled—that is, until she sees it's not a letter at all, but a roll of film with instructions to develop it.
• Jamie's bummed that she doesn't get to learn more about the war, but develops the film nonetheless. It's full of a bunch of boring pictures of huts and people. Snooze.
• Another package comes with another roll of film. Jamie is disappointed at first, until Byrd points out to her that the pictures are like a letter in themselves.
• Jamie prints out the pictures of the moon and takes them to Cindy since she knows Cindy will appreciate them.
• When Jamie sees a picture of a wounded soldier, she's excited, but then a little nervous. She worries what might happen to TJ over there.
• Meanwhile, Jamie starts to figure out that her dad isn't thrilled about the war, even though he's a colonel.
• Jamie worries who she will be if she doesn't support the war; at the same time, she just wants her brother home, safe and sound.
• Byrd tells Jamie that he still has nightmares over his time in Vietnam, and Jamie thinks about how tough it must be for soldiers over there.
• When word on the street is that Hollister is getting shipped out soon, Jamie asks her dad to pull some strings to keep him home.
• The Colonel is hesitant at first, but eventually he does Jamie a favor so Hollister can stick around.
• Jamie gets news that TJ has been taken a POW in Vietnam. She rushes to develop TJ's film for clues, but there's nothing but pictures of the moon.
• They don't hear anything from TJ for two years, when he returns home after the war is over. Jamie shows him pictures of the moon she took each night while he was away.
