Bridget Timeline and Summary
MoreBridget Timeline and Summary
- Before Bridget goes to soccer camp, we learn that her mother died some time ago.
- Our first impression of Bridget is that she is a carefree teenager on her way to Baja, Mexico for soccer camp. On the field, this girl is the real deal.
- Bridget is adventurous and fun, and takes her sleeping bag to sleep under the stars.
- She sees Coach Eric and instantly feels an attraction—but Eric is a sophomore in college and there are strict rules against players and coaches dating, so pursing this is out of the question, right?
- Wrong. Bridget begins her pursuit of Eric by going on a run with him. They race and she collapses onto the beach; then she strips down to her bikini and rolls around in the sand before going for a swim.
- She successfully gets Eric's attention during a soccer scrimmage by scoring a ton of goals on the other team.
- Bridget and her friends bike to the bar where the coaches hang out to do some more flirting; she shares a dance with Eric, and he tells her "we can't do this" (9.95).
- The next day while swimming, Bridget thinks about Eric's words and considers them a good sign, particularly because he used the word us. She also worries about her intensity—she just can't seem to control it.
- They go on another run, and this time Eric tells Bridget that he knows what she is up to, but it will never happen.
- So Bridget visits Eric that night. He wakes up and she tries to push her body close to his, but he pushes her away with a warning—next time he might not be able to.
- The Pants arrive. Bridget brings them to the soccer game against Eric's team—she is playing goalie and lets his team score, which he appreciates.
- Bridget's coach isn't thrilled with her soccer performance so she makes her play defense during the next game. This girl won't be denied, though, so she fires a shot from midfield that lands in the goal.
- The coach benches her. Oh well. She sits on the sidelines and enjoys some chips and salsa.
- It's a big night for Bridget. She walks past Eric's cabin, and he follows her down to the beach wearing only his underwear. She, of course, is wearing the Pants.
- After, we find out that Bridget is unhappy and disappointed. We don't know the details, but they shared an intimate moment and Bridget regrets it.
- She is depressed and plays so poorly during the championship game that she is asked to leave.
- Eric meets up with her to tell her he wishes she was older and realizes she is inexperienced with guys—he didn't realize she was so young. Bridget is irritated.
- She sends Lena a few sad letters, and instantly feels better when her friend surprises her with a visit.
