Love Interest
Character Role Analysis
Alda
Alda doesn't get a feature role in this particular film—more like a one-stanza cameo. But she is Roland's love interest, even if he does get more pleasure from skewering Saracens. Her big moment comes near the end of the poem when Charlemagne tells her Roland is dead and offers her his own son, Louis, as a replacement. With dignity she refuses and then drops dead.
