Marsile Timeline and Summary

Marsile asks his counselors how to halt Charlemagne's Spanish march and send him scuttling back to France.
Then he schemes with Blancandrin and sends him as an envoy to the Franks.
Next, dude receives Ganelon and agrees to his plans about fake-conversion and killing Roland.
He sends out his army against Roland's rearguard.
Bad move: he gets his hand cut off by Roland.
Next, he flees back to Saragossa and takes to his bed.
Because he's crafty like that, he directs the emir and his fresh supply of men to Charlemagne's approaching army and gives him the keys to Saragossa.
Finally—serves him right—he dies of despair when the emir's army is also destroyed.
