- Han explains that Luke was training a new generation of Jedi and his prize pupil—Kylo Ren—went rogue on him. Ren destroyed the rest of the Jedi, and Luke went into hiding at the first Jedi Temple.
- Han tells them that he used to think the Force was "a bunch of mumbo jumbo," but he's since learned otherwise.
- He agrees to take them to Takodana, home to an acquaintance of his, Maz Kanata, who can help get BB-8 to the Resistance.
