Character Role Analysis
Kerri Gardner
There's not much time for romance in this book, but Kerri sure tries to spice it up a little. She starts out as Paul's guide, but then they go through a series of little missed encounters: she talks to him at Mike's funeral, but then hangs out with another guy at the carnival. Paul is bummed about that, but when her friend Cara calls him to see if he likes her, he's psyched. She eventually asks him on a date—which never happens, because of the brawl at the Senior Awards Night. So, not too much going on here, but Paul is definitely growing up.
