Mirek Timeline and Summary

Mirek takes a journey to collect his old love letters from Zdena.
On the way, Mirek realizes he's being tailed by the secret police. He pulls over at a garage where his friend works as a mechanic.
When he leaves the garage, the police follow Mirek to Zdena's. He knows he shouldn't have left his compromising papers intact at home.
Mirek remembers his early days and his affair with Zdena.
Mirek reaches Zdena's apartment, but she won't give over the letters.
On the way home, Mirek gives the police the slip, but they somehow reappear at his apartment.
Inside, the secret police are ransacking Mirek's house, and his teenage son is really mad at him for leaving his papers out and about.
Mirek and his son are arrested and sentenced to prison.
