• One day, a strange case comes into Dr. Haber's office. It's a drug addict who seems very timid, and his name is George Orr.
• George says that he can dream things that change the world. At first, Dr. Haber doesn't believe him, but after seeing him transform the office, he's convinced... though he tries not to let George know that.
• At their next appointment, Dr. Haber double-checks George's power, and then he makes George dream of a better climate. It works.
• The next time we see Dr. Haber, he has dreamed his way into being the head of the Oregon Oneirological Institute. Sweet.
• For some reason unknown to Dr. Haber, a lawyer comes there to observe his next session with George Orr today. Her name is Heather Lelache.
• Accidentally, Dr. Haber lets Heather observe George dreaming away 6 billion people in order to solve the overpopulation problem. He tries to convince her that nothing ever happened.
• At the next appointment, Dr. Haber tries something even more daring: he ends warfare by getting George to dream about aliens.
• That's great and all, but George disappears for a few days after that.
• The next time Dr. Haber sees George, it seems like the world is ending, because, you know, aliens are invading. Dr. Haber barely avoids death by getting George to dream about world peace.
• After that, Dr. Haber doesn't take any more chances. He reaches for more and more power until the world is full of gray people and he is the most powerful person on earth.
• Finally, Dr. Haber figures out how to get himself to dream effectively, and he releases George from his therapy.
• But when Dr. Haber starts to dream, everything goes wrong. His dreams destroy the world, and they seem to destroy his own mind at the same time.
• The last time we see him, Dr. Haber is in a mental institute.
