While acting in one of his own plays, Molière was seized by a hacking cough from his long struggle with tuberculosis. He found the strength to finish his performance, but died shortly after the play ended. Now that's dedication. (Source.)
One thing that Molière liked to make fun of in his plays was the hypocrisy of religion, which allowed priests to do one thing while telling others to act differently. He'd soon find out, though, that the French authorities wouldn't stand for this kind of satire. (Source.)
