Although this poem is only 18 lines long, it dips and swerves and makes for an exciting drive from beginning to finish. Dunn uses everyday language and an everyday action (driving) to get at a deep and complicated subject (the sacred). So while this isn't exactly as easy as driving an automatic down a highway, it is a poem that's for everybody. Trust us. Put the key in and move through the poem. It's a scenic route to finding the sacred in the most unlikely places.
