Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Bernard, Rhoda, Louis, Susan, Neville, and Jinny
Though Bernard gets slightly more air time than the others (after all, the last fifty-page chapter consists entirely of his thoughts only), it is clear that he shares the protagonist spotlight fairly equally with the five other narrators. In fact, at the end, Bernard suggests that they might not be separate characters at all, but rather six different sides of the same person. We think that means they all get protagonist billing.
