Love Interest
Character Role Analysis
Maria/Roswitha/Sister Dorothea
If you want to talk about people whom Oskar thinks are love interests, then you've got Maria Truczinski, Roswitha Raguna, and Sister Dorothea. If you want to talk about people who are actually love interests, that's a different story.
Roswitha's the only woman in this book who truly seems to voluntarily have a romantic relationship with Oskar and who's on an equal footing with him. Maria, on the other hand, sees him as a child. Sister Dorothea's never even met Oskar and has no clue that he's obsessed with her. In any case, Oskar's love interests tend to reflect his delusions about his sexual charm.
