WALL-E's main goal is to find love. He definitely hasn't been programmed this way. He gets his ideas for love by watching Hello, Dolly on VHS. The musical serves as a Robot's Guide to Love, especially it's big song "Put on Your Sunday Clothes."

It teaches WALL-E that there's a big world out there to see, and maybe a person, um, a robot for him to love. WALL-E might not have any Sunday clothes—he doesn't have any clothes—but he has the ability to be kind, rewind, and love someone.
