• Eighteen-year-old Cadence is having severe migraines that she can only hold at bay with hardcore prescription painkillers.
• She knows she had an accident, but she can't remember what happened.
• She tells us about Beechwood, her family's private island, and about meeting Gat there when they were eight years old.
• Gat came back every summer until they were fifteen, and she fell more and more in love with him.
• During summer sixteen, she doesn't get to go to Beechwood. Her grandfather sends her on a trip to Europe with her father instead.
• She begs to go back during summer seventeen, and her mother eventually agrees to let her go for a month. She has exactly four weeks to figure out what happened.
• When she arrives on the island, she sees that her grandfather's house, Clairmont, has been replaced with a house everyone is calling New Clairmont.
• The Liars are camped out in Cuddledown, her aunt Bess's house. Cadence spends most of her time with them trying to remember what happened, and why they didn't contact her after her accident.
• She remembers summer fifteen in bits and pieces. Ultimately, she remembers that the Liars burned down Clairmont because they were sick of their mothers fighting over the inheritance.
• Cadence remembers that her grandparents' dogs died in the fire. She tells the Liars, and they ask if she remembers anything else.
• She realizes the Liars died, too, and that she's either hallucinating, seeing ghosts, or both.
• She follows the Liars to the beach, where they say goodbye and walk into the water.
• Cadence rejoins her family at Clairmont and resolves to create a meaningful life, since she's the only Liar left.
