- Jack finds out that old man Treadwell and his equally old sister have been found. They've been trapped inside a shopping center that's located on the interstate. They both got confused in the mall and couldn't find their way out for days (themes of American consumerism, anyone?).
- It turns out that a day before the Treadwells were found, the police called in a psychic to help them find the couple. This psychic seems to have an uncanny ability to help the police find missing people and things, though it's never the people and things the police are looking for. It almost makes you wonder if there's some mystical power lurking behind this book (cue the creepy music).
