Alice Sycamore (Jean Arthur)’s Timeline and Summary

Alice takes a job as Tony Kirby's secretary. They fall in love.
Tony proposes to Alice. She's concerned that his family won't accept hers because her family is a bit loopy.
She arranges to make dinner for the Kirbys. Tony brings them on the wrong day.
The evening goes horribly, ending with them all getting arrested because the Sycamores have illegal fireworks.
In jail, the Kirbys are snooty and mean; Alice gets angry and breaks up with Tony.
Since they argue in front of the court; the rift with the Kirbys appears in the papers.
Alice leaves town and refuses to see Tony.
She comes back when she learns that her grandfather is selling the house. She meets Tony.
At first she won't listen to him, but then Mr. Kirby shows up and says he's had a change of heart.
He gives his blessing to the marriage and happiness ensues.
