Hans Christian Andersen was born on this day in 1805. Several Disney films, including Frozen and The Little Mermaid, are adapted from Andersen's fairy tales—albeit with a few details changed here and there. For example, in Andersen's original Mermaid, the mermaid and the prince can only hook up if the mermaid drinks a poison that makes it feel like she's walking on knives all the time. Oh, and the prince marries another chick. And the mermaid dies at the end. Sounds like one heck of a theme park ride if you ask us.
