Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita hit shelves on this day in 1958. In addition to being a seven-time National Book Award finalist, the Russian author was also quite the lepidopterist, a.k.a., a butterfly buff. He not only discovered several species of butterfly, but also curated the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology's butterfly collection.
