jun 14 Learn More Harriet Beecher Stowe Born
If your family tree includes a lot of ladies named Eva, you may have Harriett Beecher Stowe to thank. Stowe, who was born on this day in 1811, was an ardent abolitionist, and her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin energized the anti-slavery movement. It also led to a lot of babies named Eva, after one of the characters in the book. In Boston alone, at least three hundred bouncing baby girls were named Eva in the year following the book's release.
