jun 15 Learn More Espionage Act Passed
On this day in 1917, Congress passed the Espionage Act, just after the United States entered World War I. Basically, its point was to punish spies. What do Roald Dahl, Ian Fleming, Julia Child, and Harry Houdini all have in common? Yup, they were all American or British spies—or, in the case of Houdini, both. Both countries' intelligence agencies used the magician to sneak into foreign police stations and collect information.
