mar 29 Learn More Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Convicted
Alleged Soviet super-spy couple Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of espionage on this day in 1951. We say "alleged" because, while Julius has been fingered as a spy by several sources, most agree that his old lady knew what he was up to, but didn't actually partake in any shady dealings herself. That didn't stop her from being executed right alongside her husband, though, on June 19, 1953.
