sep 01 Learn More Wreck of Titanic Found
The wreck of the Titanic was found on this day in 1985. The ship didn't go down quite the way it did in James Cameron's Oscar-winning film. The movie shows the ship splitting in half and then sinking. In reality, the back end only tipped up about twenty-three degrees. Sorry to disappoint. If it makes you feel any better, the band on board really did play on as the ship sunk and passengers clambered aboard lifeboats. Actually, scratch that. Hopefully that doesn't make you feel better.
