Pink Floyd bassist and songwriter Roger Waters was born on this day in 1943. The band, which was originally called The Pink Floyd Sound, reportedly got their name from singer Syd Barrett's record collection, which included albums by blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. So, we suppose we're lucky that Pink Floyd didn't call themselves The Anderson Council. Seems a little stuffy.
